Frequently asked questions
What ages do you teach?
We teach children, teenagers and adults. For younger children we usually recommend starting from around age 5–6, depending on attention span and reach. Our minimum age is 5. There's no upper age limit. Plenty of our learners are adults picking up an instrument for the first time or coming back after years away.
Can complete beginners book?
Absolutely. Most students start as complete beginners. Your first lesson covers the basics of your instrument, simple technique and your first piece of music, at a pace that feels comfortable.
Do I need my own instrument?
Not necessarily to begin with. We'll advise on affordable instruments and practice equipment when you're ready, and what to buy (and what not to). Lessons take place at our studio in Ashford: see our Lesson Locations page.
Can parents manage a child's lessons?
Yes. In fact it's required. Every learner under 18 is added and managed by a parent or guardian account. You can add several children, book and pay for each of them, and see all upcoming lessons in one place.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can cancel or reschedule online from your account up to 48 hours before the lesson, and a timely cancellation is fully refunded. Inside 48 hours the fee isn't refundable, but get in touch and we'll always try to help. Full details are in our Cancellation Policy.
Are other instruments coming soon?
Yes. Piano, acoustic guitar and bass guitar lessons are planned. You can register your interest on the home page and we'll email you when bookings open.
How do payments work?
You book and pay securely online by card (plus Apple Pay or Google Pay where available), through Stripe, a leading payment provider. When you book, the amount is held on your card, not charged. Your tutor then accepts (usually within a day), and only then is the payment taken and the lesson confirmed. If they can't make it, the hold is released and you pay nothing. Your receipts are always in your account.
